River Yamuna with its extremely rich riparian ecosystem and vast floodplains on both its eastern and western banks, flows on the eastern edge of the city of Delhi, from the north to the south [covering approximately 52 kilometres] from Palla to Jaitpur. One of the most sacred and revered rivers of the country has been subjected to contamination and has transformed into a dirty stinking drain.
