Vermicompost is nothing but the excreta of the earthworms which is rich in humus.In situ preparation of vermicompost is done in various parks by “Pit / Tank Method”. In this method layers of cow dung slurry and dried & chopped green wastes are dumped with scientific specifications of 1:3 proportion of layers in a pit or a tank. Earthworms are then released in the tank and allowed to feed on the matter for a period of 60-80 days with regular sprinkling of water. Subsequently, the process is repeated and the output is utilized in the parks and also sold at DDA Sale Counter/ Nursery at reasonable price.
