In recent years with rise in awareness among the public, many Herbal gardens or Corners in larger parks have been developed by DDA in its endeavor to meet the aspiration of general masses. For the easy identification of aromatic and medicinal plants nomenclature plates are prepared with plants parts used, active ingredients and medicinal value of plants.
The idea to develop the Herbal Garden in this almost abandoned orchard area of 5.85 acres was initiated an year ago. Consequently, more than 100 varieties of medicinal herbs, trees and shrubs were arranged and planted. The unique feature of this newly developed garden is that the QR codes have been tagged and the detailed information of the plant and its uses can be accessed by just scanning the QR code. This information includes name, species, origin, plant part used, dose and most importantly the disease for which it can be used.
