TEHKHAND LANDFILL SITE

The sanitary landfill site at Tehkhand under control of SDMC spreading over an area of 40 acres, is currently large heaps of solid waste ranging to a height of about 60-70 meters. Through regenerative design and natural process of plant adaptation, it has a potential to be transformed into positive built environment consisting usable landscape areas. The environmental problems like dust and smell caused to the surrounding region due to the existing landfill can be decreased with the help of correct selection of plant species and the planting principles. Vegetation along with engineering support has the ability to improve the environmental quality of landfills. After the process, the slopes will be designed in a manner to generate usable spaces for public use.
