Children Play Area, Vivek Vihar

Total area of the Green area: 1.58 Ha

Situated in east Delhi, this is a landmark green in the area and provides ecological and socio-cultural services, like, area for rainwater recharge, ecosystems for urban flora and fauna, areas for users of all age groups etc. In the developed green area, specific intervention in terms of adaptive reuse of fountain area, augmentation of plantation, provision of seating and children play equipment have been proposed.

This project forms a part of the large District park and focuses on a specific intervention in terms of adaptive reuse of fountain area, augmentation of plantation, provision of seating and children play equipment. To contribute to enhancement of overall health and well-being of its users the abandoned fountain area has been designed to be used as a seating area which will act as an interactive space alongwith children play area. As the fountain area is at lower level, it provides an opportunity to develop sunken court where seating plazas connected with stepping stones incorporated with low heighted shrubs and groundcovers are proposed. Existing vegetation of the green area has been augmented by planting flowering and fragrant trees as well as colorful flowering shrubs.
